Ethylene propylene diene monomer, or EPDM, was used on the Rhode Island Resource for Recovery Recylcling Center by adding EPDM peel and stick roof over the existing damaged EPDM roofing unit. The roof was coated with Tremco AlphaGard with the EPDM layer placed over it. The old EPDM and insulation system was removed with a new tapered system and Burmastic cold application.

The reason EPDM is an ideal material is because it is known as the “rubber roof”, being pliable and anywhere from 10 to 50 feet wide and 200 feet long. Many commercial buildings, such as the Rhode Island Resource Recovery building, have EPDM roofing installed.
